(Sikeston, MO, October 30, 2002)—Tender Loving Care/Staff Builders, a private duty and home health nurse agency serving all of southeast Missouri and western Kentucky, has a new marketing representative.  The announcement was made today by the agency’s administrator.

“I am pleased to announce that Ken Lucy has joined our staff to represent us to other health care providers in the area,” said Roberta Lucy, RN, BSN, MA.  “Ken has already begun calling on physicians, hospitals and nursing homes to inform them of the professional, caring service our cadre of nurses provide to patients in their homes,” Ms. Lucy added.  His other duties are to present the agency’s services to employers wishing to develop wellness programs and general health assessments of new and existing employees.

A resident of Jackson, Mr. Lucy comes to Tender Loving Care/Staff Builders after a 20-year career with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  While with MDA, Mr. Lucy supervised the association’s Missouri district offices in Cape Girardeau, Columbia, Joplin, Kansas City, St. Louis, St. Charles and Springfield.  He began as the district director in the Cape Girardeau office on the same day that the association’s voluntary national chairman, Jerry Lewis, suffered a heart attack and required emergency heart bypass surgery.

Lucy, a native of New Madrid County, was a broadcast journalist for over 10 years before joining MDA.  He worked at radio stations in Sikeston, Cape Girardeau and Park Hills in southeast Missouri.  At those stations, he also provided play-by-play of memorable sporting events for area high schools and universities.  Mr. Lucy is an active member of First Baptist Church of Jackson along with his wife, Pam and two children, Arika and Ryan.  He also is a member of several community organizations.

“I’m excited about this opportunity in calling on old friends and new ones in a different capacity,” Mr. Lucy said.  “Professional, high-technology health care is not the exclusive province of hospitals.  Patients can return to their homes to continue their convalescence with the confidence that the care they receive in their own home is equal to that received in hospitals.  Plus, the care can be provided at a much lower cost, saving them hundreds if not thousands of dollars.  And, by lowering the amount paid by insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid, that saves money for all us,” he continued.

Tender Loving Care/Staff Builders is a national home care provider of in-home nurses, whether the nurses are RNs, LPNs or nurses’ aids.  The level of care is determined by the patient’s needs in consultation with their physician and family.  In southeast Missouri and western Kentucky, service is coordinated from the franchised office in Sikeston that is locally owned and operated by Allen Home Care Services, Inc.
